X AND Y INTERCEPTS

x-intercept

The distance from the origin to the point at which a curve cuts the x-axis (horizontal axis). In the diagram below, the x intercepts are -3.14 and 3.14.

y-intercept

The distance from the origin to the point at which a curve cuts the y-axis (vertical axis). In the diagram below, the y intercepts are -3.14 and 3.14.
